The Apogee DUET is a perfect interface choice if you are using a Mac computer, particularly if you use a MacBook. The Duet is a portable firewire interface with a design very similar to other Apple products. The Apogee Duet has a single big multi-function knob that can control all the parameters of the device. The Apogee Duet Firewire Interface features 2 channels, 24-bit audio processing and 96kHz sampling rate, connected by 2 balanced XLR (48V phantom power) and 2 hi-impedance instrument inputs and line outputs (for powered speakers perhaps) in the same breakout cable plus a headphone output, firewire port, LED level indicators and input and output selection LED on the unit. The Apogee Duet has been designed to integrate with Apple Logic Pro, Soundtrack Pro or GarageBand software but can work with almost any core-audio software using the included Apogee Maestro software. With Duet, you can plug in guitars, keyboards and microphones and record your music, or simply experience how much better your favorite tracks in iTunes sound. Duet is compact and powered by FireWire, so you can pack up your studio and go anywhere your music takes you.
