Arturia Minimoog V

NAMM convention 1971 - Bob Moog introduces the Minimoog, the very first compact and affordable synthesizer for musicians. With its excellent fat sound and its unparalleled filters, the Minimoog eventually becomes responsible for some of the best analogue synth bass and lead sounds ever.

NAMM show 2004 - Introducing the Arturia Minimoog V, a faithful reproduction of the Minimoog. Offering all the features of the original, the Minimoog V also brings polyphony, MIDI management and presets. But that's not all - beyond the control panel are some additional hidden features: a modulation matrix, a LFO, an arpegiator, a chorus unit and a delay effect.

"Arturia has done it again. The minimoog V's sound quality captures the magic of the original classic Minimoog. The graphic interface looks classy and responds smoothly, making it fun and easy to use.

We at Moog Music are happy to lend our name to this fine product."

Robert A. Moog

TAE® - 'True Analogue Emulation'

Thanks to TAE®, Arturia's proprietary technology for emulating analogue circuits, the Minimoog V offers an unrivaled quality of sound. Sharp filters, aliasing-free oscillators and soft-clipping guarantee you have the best analogue emulation on the market.

Benefit from the experience of the best sound designers

The Arturia Minimoog V comes loaded with more than 500 presets made by a selection of talented sound designers and world-renowned musicians, showing off its classic sound and extended features, instantly bringing new dimensions to your musical palette.

What's new in Minimoog V version 1.5?

Since the first release of the minimoog V, Arturia had it foremost in their mind to make a playable instrument rather than a technical tool. Since then they have gone to great lengths to listen to all the remarks and advice from users, journalists, experts and officianados. They considered every comment very carefully and then set to work to create a Minimoog emulation that's better than ever!

"...it would be a braver man than I who would now
claim to be able to distinguish the software synth
from the lump of wood and metal."

Gordon Reid - Sound On Sound July 2005

While keeping the ease of use and the musicality already loved by users of the Minimoog V, Arturia improved on the details and refined the application of their TAE technology for the Minimoog V to be even closer to the original Minimoog. Now with Minimoog V version 1.5, you can be sure to have the the most intuitive and musical Minimoog emulation available on the market today.

Here is an outline of the improvements:

Filter: The filter has the same sharp and precise sound as before, but now it is more agile and responds to envelopes and modulations faster than before. FM modulation on the filter is a good place to exploit this improvement.

Oscillator: Square pulse-width now defaults to 48%, making it closer to the original - the original Minimoog had an average pulse width of 48%. You can obviously tune the pulse width of the Minimoog V to the previous default of 50%, and don't worry - presets made with previous versions of Minimoog V won't change.

The ramp/triangle and triangle waveforms are now nearly indistiguishable form the original Minimoog. The pulse width modulation on these waveforms has also been extended. The Pulse Width Modulation on the ramp/triangle and triangle waveforms is an unique feature on the market, only possible with the minimoog V. It produces a very particular sweet sound, especially on the ramp/triangle waveform.

Envelopes: Now the retriggering behavior of the envelopes reproduces the original contour behavior exactly:

Unison Mode: This mode is now more musical, with some fine-tuned inter-oscillator drifts to produce a fatter and larger sound.

Efficiency: Now you can use FM and soft clipping without using an exhorbitant number of CPU cycles. This allows you to achieve complex sounds without any risk of freezing your computer!

Many other improvements have also been made to the sound of Arturia Minimoog V!
